In early 2025, a major transformation began at Penn State’s Beaver Stadium. The historic press box—home to decades of iconic sports reporting and roaring college football moments—was slated for demolition as part of a larger renovation project.
That’s when our client, Collect U, saw an opportunity to preserve the past while making it part of the future. They approached Gemini Builds It with a unique challenge: turn leftover stadium scrap metal into collectible works of art that could be auctioned off to die-hard fans and proud alumni.
From Demolition Debris to Treasured Memorabilia
Once the demolition was underway, Collect U salvaged select pieces of metal directly from the original press box structure and shipped them to our shop. From there, the Gemini team got to work—handling the entire transformation from concept to completion.
Our process included:
- Precision Cutting: Our craftsmen carefully cut the salvaged metal into smaller, uniform pieces, ensuring every segment was clean, safe, and ready for display.
- Custom Shadow Box Fabrication: We designed and built each frame from scratch, tailored to securely mount the metal and visually elevate the story behind it.
- Historic Storytelling Through Design: Each shadow box included photos of Beaver Stadium and a brief narrative about the press box’s legacy that was printed in-house, bringing deeper meaning to the keepsake.
- Final Assembly & Finishing Touches: Our team assembled the complete collectible—metal, photos, frame, and all—with the same level of care we bring to every museum-quality piece.

The finished pieces are striking: a fusion of raw stadium metal, refined craftsmanship, and Penn State pride.
