Custom Guitar Display Cases at Wrigley Field: Preserving a Concert Legacy
When the Chicago Cubs began hosting large-scale concerts at Wrigley Field they weren’t just opening their doors to music, they were creating a new chapter in the stadium’s legacy. Each performance brought iconic artists and a growing story worth preserving.
The challenge was figuring out how to honor those stories in a way that felt elevated, permanent, and worthy of the setting. That question landed with Gemini Builds It.
FROM CONCERT MEMORY TO MUSEUM-WORTHY DISPLAY
The project started with a simple but open-ended question. The Cubs team had a collection of signed guitars from this summer concert series and wanted to display them in a way that felt more intentional than your typical memorabilia cases.
So rather than defaulting to a standard display, we stepped back to look at the full experience. These guitars weren’t just objects, they represented milestone performances by artists like Pink, the Jonas Brothers, and Chris Stapleton. Each one carried its own story, while also belonging to a larger narrative about how Wrigley Field continues to evolve as a world-class entertainment venue.
Our approach was to design something that could also grow over time. We came up with a consistent case size that would work across all guitars, allowing future additions without disrupting the visual rhythm. That consistency provided the structure, but customization brought the personality.
DESIGNING THE DETAILS THAT BRING IT ALL TOGETHER
Every case is built from the inside out. We fabricate the acrylic display case and frame, then print custom backdrops designed specifically for each artist and event. These backdrops feature unique graphics, colors, and visual cues tied to the concert, creating a sense of place and time behind each guitar.
To further elevate the experience, we introduced laser-embossed leather tags. Each tag captures the details of the performance and add a tactile, archival element that feels both modern and timeless. Custom acrylic brackets are also engineered for the guitars, ensuring each one is securely mounted yet designed to feel invisible to allow the guitar itself to take center stage.
Once all the individual elements are ready, the full display comes together in our frame room and is ready for us to install.
A Lasting Collection for Cubs and Music Fans Alike
Today these custom guitar display cases line the club floor at Wrigley Field, where they’re a part of the premium guest experience. Together, they celebrate an important part of the Cubs’ business and cultural legacy, highlighting the evolution of the stadium as both a historic ballpark and a world-class entertainment venue.
For Gemini Builds It, it showcases our solutions-driven approach, balancing creativity with structure, storytelling with execution. And this project is a perfect example of how custom art and décor can elevate meaningful objects into lasting experiences.
